Hen Holidays

If my spare Eglu is available I could also offer your hens the chance to have a holiday of their own in a sunny garden. They will have the best attention from an experienced chicken keeper.

I can offer:

  • Daily free-ranging in a netted area (I can net off a 10m area using Omlet netting)
  • Eglu cleaning twice per week ( I will use recycled shredded paper in the poo tray and nest box)
  • A diet of layers pellets (you can supply your own feed if your hens prefer this)
  • Fresh water daily
  • Treats of mixed corn with, plus green vegetables and vegetable kitchen scraps
  • I will give them a quick health check once a week
  • I will save some eggs for your return

If my Eglu is unavailable you are welcome to bring your own. In the unlikely event of one of your chickens being ill I use a local vet who is very good with chickens.

To find out more about my garden and my experiences of chicken keeping visit my chicken and garden blog at www.eglu-owner.co.uk

Please note - I am unable to offer holidays to cockerels.

Holiday Home

Even with the credit crunch we all love our holidays. Your chickens will need looking after whilst you are on holiday. Think of these options for giving your hens a good holiday and keeping yourself worry free.

  • Ask a neighbor to look after your hens
  • Take them to stay at a friend or relatives house (who knows - you may convert them to chicken keeping!)
  • Get a pet service to come round (I can recommend this option!)
  • Send them on their own "hen holiday"

If you know someone who would like to look after your hens but you don't want to dismantle your housing then renting an Eglu could be the perfect solution. The Eglu makes excellent holiday accommodation.
